Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 August 2026
The short version: I collect very little, I do not sell anything about you, and you can have it deleted by sending one email.
Who is responsible for your data
Ruth Maclang, Philippines. Contact: hello@ruthmaclang.com. For the purposes of the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012, and of the GDPR where it applies to visitors in the UK and EU, I am the data controller for this site.
What I collect, and why
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your name and email address | When you join the waitlist | To tell you when doors open, and to send occasional email you can leave at any time |
| What you are building, if you write it | Waitlist form, optional | To understand who is on the list |
| Name, email, and whatever you tell me | When you book a call | To hold the booking and prepare for the conversation |
| Pages viewed, rough location by country, device and browser type, how you arrived | Every visit | To see which pages are worth keeping and which are not |
| IP address and request details in server logs | Every visit | Security and diagnosing faults. Kept short term |
I do not collect payment details on this site. I do not ask for sensitive personal information, and please do not send any.
The legal basis
- Your consent, for the waitlist and for any marketing email. You give it by submitting the form and you can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interest, for security logs and basic analytics that keep the site working and useful.
- Performing an agreement, once you become a client and we are doing the work.
Who else touches it
I use a small number of outside services to run the site. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job, and none of them are allowed to sell your information.
| Service | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Brevo | Email list and sending. Holds your name and email if you join the waitlist. |
| Google Analytics | Anonymous traffic statistics. See the Cookies Policy. |
| Calendly | The booking calendar on the inquire page. Holds what you enter when booking. |
| Hostinger | Web hosting and server logs. |
| Google Fonts | Serves the typefaces. Your browser requests them, which means Google sees the request. |
Some of these companies are outside the Philippines, so your information may be processed in the United States or the European Union. Where the GDPR applies, transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses those providers publish.
I do not sell your personal information, and I never have.
How long it is kept
- Waitlist and mailing list details: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them
- Enquiry and booking details: up to two years after we last spoke
- Client records: seven years after the engagement ends, because tax rules require it
- Server logs: a short rolling window, typically weeks
- Analytics: as configured in Google Analytics, currently fourteen months
What you can ask for
Whatever country you are in, you can ask me to:
- Tell you what I hold about you
- Send you a copy of it
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it
- Stop using it for marketing
- Object to how it is being used, or ask me to restrict that use
Email hello@ruthmaclang.com and I will action it within thirty days. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason.
If you are in the Philippines and you are not satisfied with how I handled it, you can raise it with the National Privacy Commission. If you are in the UK or EU, you can raise it with your national data protection authority.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS. Form submissions are written to a log file that sits above the public web root and is not reachable from a browser. Access to the email list is limited to me. No system is perfect, and I will not pretend otherwise, but nothing collected here is the kind of data that is worth much to anyone.
Children
This site is for people running businesses. It is not aimed at anyone under 18, and I do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has sent me something, email me and I will delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change is significant and I have your email address, I will tell you directly rather than quietly editing the page.
